Dare I ask a question?

Well the time has finally come!  Discussion questions.  I have come up with four, as that is all that my brain will allow for right now.  I am asking all of you to come armed with some good questions to add on to these.  Here goes:

1.  You may not have noticed, but on page 98, halfway down, the font changes.  What kind of change in character and mind-set does this signify for the narrator?

2.  Winter nicknames the narrator "Happy".  Throughout the story, this is the only identity he is given.  How does this illustrate the power that Winter has over the narrator?

3.  This novel takes place in 1957.  How does setting the novel in this era make it easier and harder to write about graphic design?

4.  Throughout the novel, Winter Sorbek constantly insults both the narrator's work and his character.  He makes him feel emotionally unstable and completely vulnerable.  How does the narrator's actions toward Winter while he was drunk and unconscious shift the power in their relationship?

See you all tomorrow. Again, we are meeting the same place as last time:

Empyrean Coffee
1921 Walnut St
Philadelphia, PA 19103

Same time as well:  8:00pm

Email me if you have any questions.

Totally Cheese

Just a quick post to update the book of the month.  This month we are reading The Cheese Monkeys by Chip Kidd.  It is a relatively quick read packed with some good discussion.  I got a used copy for $5 from Amazon but it has taken FOREVER to get to me.  I have heard that most libraries (<--- that is a link to find your local library) have it if you are not interested in purchasing it.  I propose a meet date of 11/22, the Monday before Thanksgiving.  I will update when the date has been decided for sure.

HAPPY READING!
